The magnificent capital of Switzerland, Bern

Probably the most charming city in Switzerland attracts tourists with its genuine beauty and astonishing medieval spirit. The nation's capital is actually very tiny- it barely has 130 000 people and hasn't changed in over 5000 years.
The city still fascinates with its limestone buildings, cobbled lanes, Renaissance fountains with colourful figures and endless arcades.
Bern is one of the world's most beautiful and relaxing capital cities. Set in the heart of Switzerland it's the perfect gateway to the Alps. Many of the citizens take advantage of the good location of the city and pay visit to the Valais, where they stay in the holiday rentals Saas Fee. Bern is also a perfect for starting point to many excursions throughout Switzerland.
The capital city is attractive because of its ambiance. This is one of the reasons Bern is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, standing next to legendary sites like Florence, Petra and the Taj Mahal. The significant Old Town of Bern can take you back a few hundred years and reveal its medieval beauty. It's framed by the river Aare and offers spectacular view of the Alps.  Another very popular site for the tourists is the endless arcades that extend throughout the town. Thanks to them, shopping is a delight whatever the weather.
Because Bern is situated on a peninsula, everything is close together and can easily be reached on foot, by tram or bus. This makes the capital of Switzerland a very desired tourist destination. The whole city blends in so well with the surrounding nature making it a very picturesque place.
