Barcelona: Going Through the City

Barcelona has a population of more than 1,5 million and a total area of 101 km2, so when you are visiting this city, one question is quite important – how to get from your vacation rental in Barcelona to the beach as fast as possible?
Well, one way is to get to underground, but it’s boring and quite hot there. Another is bus, train, car and taxi, but in such a big city there is a lot of traffic. That’s why you might consider alternative way of transportation, more environment-friendly as well.
Speaking about environment-friendly transport, there are 2 main categories – bicycles and motorbikes. Both are becoming more popular in Barcelona. Bicycles are cheaper, easier to drive, however you get tired faster and the roads are not really adapted for this type of vehicle yet.
Motorbikes are faster, and if you have B category European driving license, you don’t need any other courses to drive bikes up to 125cc. Locals are changing cars to bikes with a pleasure as it is cheaper, and the climate is very suitable. However you don’t have to buy a motorbike if you come to Barcelona only for couple of days. You can just rent one for yourself; simply don’t forget to look through some websites that provide such service, when you will be searching for cheap flats Barcelona.
According to some unofficial sources, around one-third of Barcelona’s vehicles are motorbikes, considering the increasing tendency, there is a possibility of development of bike-renting services, so hopefully soon it will be as easy as to buy a newspaper in a nearest kiosk.
