Zoological Park in Barcelona is a part of the Ciutadella Park located in North-East part of the city. It has been established in 1892 and primary focuses on primates and dolphins, however has a wide variety of other animals. If you are worried about poor animals kept in cages, we would like to say that the conditions for them in the zoo are really good. There is a dolphin show organized daily in the zoo and the zoo itself is open every single day of the year, so even if there’s a public holiday and you seem to have nothing to do and don’t want to stay in your vacation rental in Barcelona all day long, you can go to the zoo. Admission price for adults 16.50 €, for children 9.90 €, however group discounts and 20% discount with Barcelona card are available.
The zoo was a home for the only known albino (pigment less) gorilla, called Snowflake for its white color. He was brought to Barcelona from Central Africa to be taken care of, as being a white gorilla is a real challenge in a wild life. Gorilla died from cancer in 2003, left 22 offspring, all of whom are black.Other facilities of the zoo that whole family can enjoy is for instance a pony ride, educational day camps for kids (2 to 5 days), possibility to organize a birthday party for a reasonable price, electric train and electric carts, which unfortunately cannot bring the visitors to their short term rentals Barcelona, but are quite convenient for getting to different points of the park, especially for older people or in case if you are tired
