Istanbul – a Bridge Between Asia and Europe

There are many things in this life that connect people of different cultures, different places and different preferences. Nokia likes being the one that is “connecting people”, however in modern life there is much more than just mobile phone. Technologies such as skype allow us to speak to the friends that are half world away from us;
strong alcohol allows us to understand people that speak completely different language after couple of glasses.
Planes made long distances short, but shorter distances still can be problematic, because of the water when traveling by car or traffic in big cities. Istanbul is one of the examples where two very different parts of the world are connected together. Asia and Europe meet on the Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul, and there is actually a sign that you see when going from Asian side, that is saying “welcome to Europe”. The bridge itself is in top-20 longest span bridges in the world with a total length of 1,510 meters.
If you rent apartment in Istanbul on the European part, you can easily go and see the Asian part, and the opposite. The bridge was constructed back in the beginning of ‘70s and has survived some interesting events. For example in 2005 it was a place for the first tennis matched played on two continents at once. Nowadays the cost of construction is much higher and the new bridges that are being built usually have admission costs, but luckily to us, this one is used for free, so if you are stuck in another continent, you can get to your holiday apartment Istanbul for free.
